Labels, labels, labels

Volunteering for the Valencia County Literacy Council scheduled, I went to the UNM Valencia campus where I met with representatives from the organization. Valencia County Literacy Council has an office in the nursing building at the Valencia Campus, where we met and unpacked boxes of children's books that had been ordered from Amazon.
I labeled children's books to be given to low-income children.

Each of the books was being prepared to be placed at local offices where women and children receive services. The books are placed at WIC offices, where volunteers also go to read to children as they wait for their appointments.

Printed on standard printer labels, each book is identified as a gift from the Valencia County Literacy Council. So, for my two hours, I unpacked books, sorted and counted the books received and then placed identifying labels on each of them.

It was great to have a chance to do this work and to prepare these books for children that may not otherwise have access to them. Overall it was a great experience.
